Sonakshi Sinha Celebrates Dharmendra Pradhan's Resignation; Backs Gen Z Student Protestors

Indian film star Sonakshi Sinha took to Instagram on Saturday to celebrate the resignation of Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, who stepped down after weeks of nationwide student protests over alleged irregularities in entrance examinations, including the NEET‑UG test. In a playful video, Sinha congratulated the students and expressed her support for the movement, calling it a significant win for the younger generation.

Pradhan’s resignation followed intense demonstrations by students across India, who accused the government of manipulating exam results and demanded accountability. The protests, which were part of a broader campaign led by the Cockroach Janta Party, culminated in the minister’s letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he acknowledged responsibility and outlined plans to reform the education system, cancel the contested exam, and conduct a fresh test in a computer‑based format.

In her video, Sinha appeared visibly excited, even doing sit‑ups while addressing Gen Z. She said, “Brother, you have no idea what you’ve achieved today. I’m an artist, but Gen Z is the art. I used to underestimate you, thinking you just act on a whim and get tired. But I salute you.” She added that she now wants to emulate the energy and impact of the younger generation, calling their actions “unbelievable.”

The star’s support follows her earlier public stance on the hunger strike of activist Sonam Wangchuk and her condemnation of the lathi and tear‑gas assault on students during the Sansad March on July 20. Sinha’s comments echo the sentiment of many celebrities who have voiced backing for the student movement, which has drawn widespread attention and sympathy from activists and the public alike.
