Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026

Cinema Vines (“we”, “our”, “us”) publishes movie and entertainment news on this website and in the Cinema Vines mobile app. This policy explains what this website collects, why, and the choices you have. The mobile app has its own privacy policy. We wrote this to match what the site actually does, not as a generic template.

No account required

You don’t need to sign up or log in to read Cinema Vines. The website does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other personal details. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us, and we use it only to reply.

Information we collect

  • An anonymous browser identifier. On your first visit the site creates a random ID and stores it in your browser’s local storage. It is not derived from your device, and it isn’t linked to your name, email or any account. When you open or share an article, the site sends that ID to our server along with the article and the type of action (view or share). We use this to count readership, see which stories people care about, and suggest relevant articles.
  • Your language choice. If you switch between English and Malayalam, a cookie named NEXT_LOCALE remembers it for up to a year so the site opens in your language. It is not used for tracking.
  • Search terms. What you type into search is sent to our server so it can return matching articles.
  • Standard server logs. Like almost every website, our servers receive your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of each request. We use this to keep the site running, fix problems and protect it from abuse.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which helps pay for the site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, and these ads may be based on your visits to this and other websites. We don’t control those cookies, and Google does not give us your personal information.

You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising here:

To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Embedded and third-party content

Some articles include YouTube videos. When a video loads or plays, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and receive information such as your IP address and that you viewed the video, under Google’s own privacy policy. Articles may also link to, or embed content from, other sites such as X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and the original news publisher. Those third parties handle your data under their own policies, outside our control.

Our Facebook Page

We publish our news on our Cinema Vines Facebook Page. To do that, our servers use Meta’s APIs to post our own articles to our own Page. This only sends our content to Facebook. It does not collect, receive or store any personal data about Facebook users. This website does not use Facebook Login, the Meta pixel or Facebook social plugins. When you visit or interact with our Page on Facebook, Meta’s privacy policy applies.

How we use information

  • To run the website and show you the articles you ask for.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve our content and recommendations.
  • To show advertising.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that make the site work, such as our hosting provider and Google (for ads and embedded videos), and where the law requires it. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including by these providers.

How long we keep it, and your choices

  • You can clear your browser’s site data at any time. That removes the anonymous identifier and the language cookie, and the site simply creates a new random ID on your next visit.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
  • You can opt out of personalised ads using the links above.
  • We keep view and share records for as long as they’re useful for understanding readership and improving recommendations. Because the identifier isn’t tied to who you are, we can’t look you up by name. If you’d like records connected to your browser identifier deleted, email us and we’ll help.

Children’s privacy

Cinema Vines is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest revision.
