Tom Holland’s Spider‑Man: Brand New Day opened worldwide on July 31, drawing a staggering $927 million in its first weekend and becoming the second‑largest global opening ever, trailing only Avengers: Endgame’s $1.2 billion debut in 2019.
In North America the film earned $355 million, the second‑highest domestic opening in history, just shy of Endgame’s $357.1 million. Internationally it added $572 million from 66 markets, with China leading the charge at $121 million—Marvel’s best post‑pandemic opening in the country—followed by the United Kingdom ($49 million), Mexico ($38.3 million) and South Korea ($25 million).
Several territories saw record‑breaking openings: India posted $31.8 million, the largest Hollywood debut ever in that market; France contributed $26.6 million; Brazil added $23.8 million; and Spain brought in $15.6 million.
Compared with earlier Marvel releases, Brand New Day outperformed Spider‑Man: No Way Home, which opened with $260 million in the U.S. and $600 million worldwide in 2021, and surpassed the $640 million global opening of Avengers: Infinity War.
The new installment is set four years after No Way Home. After Doctor Strange’s spell erases Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, he continues to protect New York as Spider‑Man while living a solitary life. A series of mysterious crimes trigger a transformation that threatens the city and the world.
