After the success of his 2025 film Sitaare Zameen Par, superstar Aamir Khan is preparing for his next project, Lalkaara. The period drama is slated to go on floors later this year, and the production team is currently finalising the cast.
According to a source cited by Bollywood Hungama, Vikrant Massey has been approached for a key role in the film. The actor, known for his versatility across genres, is still weighing the offer. The source added that the role will demand a long‑term commitment, with extensive preparation and shooting schedules, so Massey will need to consider his availability and other commitments before making a decision.
Earlier in July, Bollywood Hungama reported that Lalkaara is not a biopic but is inspired by the iconic 1952 Test series between India and Pakistan. The script is written by Piyush Gupta, who penned Dangal (2016), and Neeraj Singh, known for Nil Battey Sannata (2016). The story is described as an intense sports drama that explores rivalry, friendship, partition, and nationalism.
The film will be produced by Excel Entertainment, a joint venture of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Rajkumar Hirani has also joined the project, but only as a producer. Aamir Khan has a long history of collaboration with both Farhan Akhtar and Rajkumar Hirani, having worked with Akhtar on the cult classic Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and with Hirani on blockbusters 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014).
Vikrant Massey has recently appeared in two web releases, Pritam And Pedro and Musafir Cafe, and is set to star in the international film White as Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He also secured a layered grey character in Ajay Devgn’s Chauhaan. His involvement in Lalkaara would add another high‑profile project to his growing portfolio.
