Ambrish Verma, the writer‑actor‑director who sparked buzz with the hit series Sapne Vs Everyone, is stepping onto the silver screen for the first time as a feature film director. The debut project, titled The Last Rockstar, is a music‑driven narrative that follows a rapper’s journey in North India. Mahaveer Jain Films, a production house known for backing content‑rich cinema, will produce the film.
Verma’s track record in the digital arena—most notably his role as Jimmy in TVF’s Sapne Vs Everyone, one of the most talked‑about shows of the last two years—has positioned him as a promising new voice in Indian storytelling. The series’ second season, which premiered on Prime Video in May 2026, sits at #146 on IMDb’s Top 250 TV shows worldwide and earned the Best Branded Program award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore.
According to a source close to the project, The Last Rockstar will be a “very rooted, music‑driven story” that also explores “first‑college love, college adventures and friendship stories so strong it defies all practicalities.” The makers emphasize that the film will aim for authenticity, “no sugar pills added,” and will stay true to the realities of its setting.
The film is still in the writing stage, with production slated to begin early next year. Casting details and other production specifics are being kept under wraps for now, but the team expects to reveal more about the cast, title, and soundtrack in the coming months.
With Mahaveer Jain Films’ backing and Verma’s proven track record, The Last Rockstar marks a significant leap for the creator from the digital space to the big screen, promising a fresh, music‑centric story for Indian audiences.
