Idhayam Murali; Streaming on Netflix August 7

Aatharvaa’s latest romantic drama, Idhayam Murali, has just crossed from the silver screen to the streaming arena. The Tamil film, which opened in theatres on 10 July 2026, will now be available on Netflix from 7 August 2026. Viewers can watch it in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, giving the story a wide linguistic reach.

The plot follows the eponymous protagonist, Idhaya, played by Aatharvaa, as he travels to India for his wedding. On a flight, a chance conversation with a stranger triggers a series of flashbacks that span his life from the late 1990s childhood, through school and college, to his adult years. The film explores how Idhaya’s relationships with various women and his friends—Dravid and Prabhu—shape his journey, while he struggles to articulate his feelings at the right moments. As the wedding approaches, he reexamines past choices, missed opportunities, and the paths that did not materialise.

Directed by Aakash Baskaran, who also co‑wrote and produced the film under the Dawn Pictures banner, Idhayam Murali marks Baskaran’s debut as a director. The ensemble cast features Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Malavika Mohanan, Natty Subramaniam, Ramki, Rakshan, Dravid Selvam, Sudhakar and Niharika NM. Notably, Thaman S makes a return to acting after a 22‑year hiatus and also composed the film’s music. Cinematography was handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai, while Pradeep E. Ragav edited the picture. Lyrics were written by Vivek, with dialogues by Ramanagirivasan and additional contributions from Baskaran and Selvam.

Fahadh Faasil makes an extended cameo appearance, adding star power to the cast. The film’s release strategy saw a theatrical run beginning 10 July, followed by a swift transition to the digital platform. Netflix’s confirmation of the 7 August streaming date means that those who missed the cinema experience now have a convenient way to enjoy the coming‑of‑age romantic drama.
