Fans of the popular Golmaal comedy series are buzzing with anticipation for the next instalment, Golmaal 5. In recent days, rumours circulated on social media claiming that the film would hit theatres in December of this year. The makers, however, have issued a clear statement to dismiss these unverified claims.
Rohit Shetty’s production house released a press note in which the spokesperson addressed the speculation. “We have come across speculation regarding the release date of our upcoming film, Golmaal 5. We would like to clarify that these reports are completely false and baseless,” the statement read. The spokesperson added that the entire team is focused on delivering an entertaining film and that any official updates, including the release date, will be shared through proper channels. The spokesperson also urged media outlets to avoid publishing misleading information.
The cast for Golmaal 5 is shaping up to be a star‑packed ensemble. Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi are confirmed to reprise their roles. The new addition to the franchise is Akshay Kumar, who announced his involvement on Instagram earlier this year. In the announcement video, Akshay appears in a bald look, wearing a black kurta‑pyjama and dark sunglasses, and shares a heartfelt hug with Ajay Devgn. He wrote, “Happy Birthday @itsrohitshetty 🎉 On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of Golmaal 5! Let the chaos begin.”
Behind the scenes, writer Farhad Samji has spoken about the energy on set, calling the upcoming film the best in the franchise so far. He told Hindustan Times that he feels a strong emotional connection to the series, noting that life milestones of writers and actors often align with the timeline of a Golmaal film. Samji added that the characters, such as the mute one, are already fan favourites, which gives him an advantage when scripting.
The Golmaal franchise began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006 and has since delivered a blend of slapstick comedy and memorable characters. The series continued with Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017), each building on the success of its predecessor. With the addition of Akshay Kumar and the return of Sharman Joshi, Golmaal 5 promises to bring even more chaos and laughter to audiences when it finally releases.
