After his eviction from the reality‑show “Traitors,” actor Zaid Darbar faced a storm of criticism when co‑contestant Kushal Tandon made demeaning remarks about Darbar’s wife, model and actress Gauahar Khan. The comments, which appeared on the show’s social media feed, prompted a backlash from fans who felt that Darbar had stayed silent during the heated episode.
In a recent exclusive interview with HT City, Darbar clarified that he did in fact confront Tandon about the offensive statements. According to Darbar, the conversation began after fellow contestant Vanshaj brought the issue to his attention. He said he approached Tandon calmly, rather than reacting in anger, and explained how the remarks had affected him and his family.
Darbar added that the exchange was not aired on the show. “I actually spoke to him inside, aise nahi tha. Woh toh aapko ek ghante mein I don’t think so woh dikha hoga, kyunki woh 23 ghante mujhe hi pata hai andar kya hua,” he explained, noting that the discussion took place off‑camera and was not part of the broadcast.
During the talk, Tandon listened and eventually apologized. Darbar recounted that Tandon said, “I’m sorry. Zaid ki family ko main bahut respect karta hoon, aisa humara kuch thought process tha hi nahi,” expressing regret for his earlier comments. Darbar emphasized that his goal was to promote peace and prevent future misunderstandings.
The incident has sparked debate over how reality‑show participants handle personal attacks. While Darbar’s calm approach was praised by some, others argue that the show’s producers should have addressed the issue more transparently. As the drama surrounding the program continues, viewers are left to wonder whether the show’s handling of such conflicts will improve in future seasons.
