The latest trailer for Yash’s upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown‑Ups, has taken the Kannada film community by storm. Premiered in Bengaluru on Saturday, the nearly five‑minute promo was screened before a star‑studded crowd that included Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Fans praised the grand scale, striking visuals and high‑octane action sequences that promise an ambitious period drama.
In the teaser, Yash appears to play a womaniser whose entanglements with several women drive the story’s romantic thread. A key point of intrigue is the apparent double role, with the actor seemingly portraying both a father and his son, though the exact nature of their relationship remains under wraps. The film’s action choreography, led by Hollywood stunt coordinator JJ Perry—known for his work on the Fast & Furious and John Wick franchises—has also drawn particular praise.
Behind the camera, cinematographer Rajeev Ravi has been lauded for the film’s visual storytelling, while music has been composed by Ravi Basrur and Vishal Mishra. The production, shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, is set to hit theaters in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, on August 26.
However, the Malayalam‑dubbed version of the trailer sparked a debate among viewers. While many appreciated the overall presentation, some critics targeted Yash’s voice in the Malayalam dub. One user described the trailer as “a heavy watch,” while another commented, “Apart from Yash’s Malayalam dub, everything else is perfect.” The mixed reception highlights the challenges of dubbing for a diverse audience.
