After a series of postponements, the Kannada‑language film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups is set to hit screens later this month. The much‑anticipated trailer was unveiled in Bengaluru on Saturday, with the entire cast in attendance. The event drew stars Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth, among others.
During the launch, Yash took a moment to speak about the film’s ensemble and singled out Tara Sutaria for special praise. He explained that the character originally written for her was considerably smaller. “We were looking at how to make each role stand out,” Yash said. “But your presence gave us so much that we expanded your scenes beyond what was originally scripted. It was all because of your fabulous presence, your effort and your elegance. You added a lot of elegance to the film and thank you for being a part of it,” he told Sutaria.
Yash also highlighted the contribution of co‑lead Huma Qureshi, who has been juggling her own production, Baby Do Die Do, released just last month. “I know it’s very difficult for someone who is doing a lot of unique work, including independent films and being a producer,” he said. “Despite that, you have taken a lot of time for this film and believed in it. You have given us this freedom to position each one of you.” He assured audiences that Huma’s role, though not heavily featured in the trailer, would be a standout moment in the movie.
Huma echoed Yash’s sentiment, saying, “Every time I am asked about my character, I have to say wait for the film. The film will speak for itself.” She added that the buzz around Toxic has become a significant part of her career, noting that inquiries about the film surface whenever she appears in the media, often going viral.
With the trailer now out and the release date approaching, fans of the star‑studded cast can look forward to a film that promises both elegance and depth, thanks in part to the expanded roles of its leading actresses.
