Farah Khan denies bias allegations; addresses trolls with Lock Upp 2 winner Shreya Kalra

After Shreya Kalra claimed the title of Lock Upp Season 2 champion on Netflix last week, a wave of social media comments surfaced accusing co‑host Farah Khan of bias. The allegations were fueled by a claim that both Farah’s and Shreya’s YouTube channels are run by the same production house, Qyuki, which manages 70 creators. Farah, however, has denied any favoritism and has addressed the criticism head‑on in a recent vlog on her channel.

In the vlog, Farah visited Kalra’s Mumbai home and asked her directly, “Have I ever been biased towards you before I saw you on stage?” Kalra answered “no,” and Farah explained that she only learned of the shared management after the comments began. She said she had reached out to Qyuki and was told that Kalra was indeed part of the team, but she had no prior knowledge of it. Farah added that she had never said Kalra was not doing well and that the two of them shared a laugh over the misunderstanding.

Kalra, on the other hand, recalled moments from the show where she felt Farah had been critical from the start. She said, “You were the one who picked on me from the beginning. In the first week you shouted at me, and even when I was doing well you kept shouting. When the Akanksha Choudhary fight happened you told me not to be too happy because I was looking better in comparison to her.” Farah responded with an eye roll and clarified that she had never suggested Kalra was not performing well.

The finale of Lock Upp Season 2 saw the ex‑inmates and the jailers vote for their favourite contestant, with the final decision also incorporating public votes. Kalra emerged victorious over Shivangi Joshi, lifting the Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa trophy and receiving a ₹1 crore prize. Kalra broke down in tears after her name was announced, while Joshi appeared visibly disappointed. Kalra’s close friend Shilpa Shinde was also seen in tears as she celebrated the win.

Farah Khan’s response to the bias allegations comes amid a broader conversation about fairness in reality‑TV judging. While the show’s format relies on a mix of jury and public votes, the scrutiny over host conduct highlights the heightened expectations placed on celebrity judges in India’s entertainment industry.
