A.R. Rahman's Son A.R. Ameen Injured in Car Accident; Discharged from Hospital

A.R. Rahman’s son, singer A.R. Ameen, suffered only minor injuries after the luxury car he was riding in collided with a taxi in Chennai early Monday morning, according to a report by IANS.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. as Ameen and a companion were traveling toward Guindy along Jawaharlal Nehru Road. The collision took place near Olympia Tech Park when a cab entered the main road from a side street, causing both vehicles to be damaged.

Both Ameen and his friend were taken to a private hospital where they received medical attention and were subsequently discharged. A passenger in the cab was also injured but was treated at Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital and later discharged.

Police confirmed that none of the parties involved sustained life‑threatening injuries. The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing is conducting an inquiry to determine how the cab entered Jawaharlal Nehru Road and whether factors such as speed contributed to the crash. Investigators will review CCTV footage from cameras around the site and interview the drivers and occupants of both vehicles.

Jawaharlal Nehru Road, also known as the Inner Ring Road, is a major traffic corridor in Chennai, linking several residential and commercial areas. The early‑morning hours saw relatively light traffic, which may have influenced the circumstances of the accident.

A.R. Ameen, the son of Oscar‑winning composer A.R. Rahman, has carved out his own career as a singer and performer, collaborating with his father on various musical projects and performing together at concerts.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to establish the exact cause of the collision and assess whether any traffic violations played a role.
