The Odyssey's IMAX Run Ends; Spider-Man Joins Discounted Tuesday Offer

In a move that marks a first for the Christopher Nolan‑directed blockbuster, The Odyssey will share its exclusive IMAX run with Warner Bros’ new release, The End Of Oak Street. Starting Friday, August 14, the two films will occupy the same premium screens, with the dinosaur‑laden thriller slated for two prime IMAX slots while the Hindi epic will receive the remaining three or four shows.

According to a trade source speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the decision was driven by the shared distribution network: Warner Bros is handling both titles in India, making it easier to split the limited IMAX capacity. The source added that the studio has requested that the two major Hindi releases, Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, also receive a reduced number of shows—two in three‑screen theatres and three in larger venues—while IMAX and 4DX screens get only two shows each.

For The Odyssey, the change means the film’s historic, uninterrupted IMAX presence ends after 24 days of release on July 17. The movie has already grossed ₹166.89 crore, with a staggering ₹74.21 crore coming from IMAX screenings alone. The film’s exclusive status has helped it maintain a rock‑solid box office performance even as the superhero hit Spider‑Man: Brand New Day draws audiences.

Meanwhile, Spider‑Man: Brand New Day is enjoying a new Tuesday ticket promotion. Sony has re‑introduced discounted pricing for the superhero’s second week, offering regular tickets at ₹149 or ₹199 and PXL tickets at ₹249. This is the first time the film has been part of the Tuesday offer, after opting out last week when the movie was a blockbuster.

In a historic move for the Hindi film, The Odyssey has also joined the Tuesday discount for IMAX shows for the first time since its release. Most cinemas are selling IMAX tickets today in the range of ₹299 to ₹499, a significant reduction that has driven extraordinary occupancy for the premium format.

Both The Odyssey and Spider‑Man: Brand New Day are expected to record strong collections on Tuesday, August 11, thanks to the new pricing strategy. The shift in IMAX scheduling and the introduction of discounted rates are likely to keep the Hindi epic’s momentum alive while giving audiences a more affordable way to experience the cinematic spectacle.
