Priyadarshan’s forthcoming Hindi film Haiwaan is set to hit screens on September 11, bringing back the popular Akshay Kumar–Saif Ali Khan duo after more than a decade. The director has released a teaser that shows Saif Ali Khan as a visually challenged protagonist, a role originally played by Mohanlal in the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam. The Hindi remake will therefore follow the same storyline, with Saif’s character revealed as blind in the opening scene and Akshay Kumar’s entry suggesting he is keeping a close eye on him.
The teaser ends with the provocative tagline, “He hears the danger. I am the danger. Ab jeet kiski hogi? Hero ya Haiwaan?” which has sparked excitement among fans. Akshay Kumar shared the clip on his Instagram account on Wednesday, and the buzz is amplified by the fact that the two actors have previously starred together in classics such as Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Yeh Dillagi, Aarzoo, Tu Chor Main Sipahi and Keemat. Their last collaboration was the 2008 action film Tashan, which also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anil Kapoor.
In addition to the lead pair, Haiwaan features Saiyami Kher, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Boman Irani in key roles. The film is produced by Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn. Akshay Kumar has recently worked with Priyadarshan on Bhooth Bangla and will also appear in Welcome to the Jungle, while Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Kartavya, where he portrayed Inspector Pawan Malik alongside Rasika Dugal and Sanjay Mishra.
With a teaser that highlights the suspenseful dynamic between the blind hero and his vigilant partner, Haiwaan promises a fresh take on a proven storyline. The film’s release on September 11 positions it as a major event for Bollywood audiences eager to see the iconic pair return to the big screen.
