M A Nishad injured on Ooty film set; falls through floor plank

Director‑actor M A Nishad sustained injuries while filming a new project starring Khushbu in a leading role. The accident occurred on August 13, 2026, during a shoot inside an old British bungalow in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Nishad slipped when a wooden floor plank gave way, causing him to fall four feet into a six‑foot‑deep space. He suffered wounds to his hand and thigh but was fortunate that no fractures were recorded.

After the incident, Nishad was taken to the Coonoor Military Hospital where he received treatment and was later discharged. He reported that he was feeling better and had recovered sufficiently to return to the set to finish the remaining scenes. “I stepped on one of the planks, which gave way, and I fell four feet. The entire depth was six feet. I injured my hand in the process, but I am better, thankfully,” he told Onmanorama.

The film, directed by Sadath Sainudheen and produced under the banner of Ooty Williams and Catering, had the full cast and crew, including Khushbu, present at the time of the mishap. Nishad completed his shoot for the day before heading to the hospital, and after medical care, he resumed work on the project.

Previously, Nishad directed the film Lurk, featuring Saiju Kurup and Aju Varghese, which explored human‑animal conflict. The incident has highlighted the risks of on‑location shooting in historic structures and the importance of safety precautions on set.
