Ashmit Patel Defends Sohail Khan Against Trolls; Slams Ageist Comments

After a brief stint on the reality show Alliance, Bollywood actor Sohail Khan celebrated his return by hosting a party at his home. Photos of the gathering quickly circulated online, sparking a flurry of comments about the actor’s new, leaner appearance. Some netizens speculated that he had used the weight‑loss drug Ozempic, while others went further, claiming he looked older than his own brother, Salman Khan.

Responding to the backlash, Ashmit Patel—known as Alvira Khan’s rakhi brother—took to a podcast with Hindi Rush to defend Sohail. Patel praised the actor’s “personality and physique” and urged listeners to watch Fight Club: Members Only, a 2006 action thriller that featured Sohail among its ensemble cast. “He is such a good human being, soft‑spoken,” Patel said. “Pick any of his interviews or watch Alliance, he speaks so softly and he is an amazing person.”

Patel also called out the trolls for their ageist remarks. “Everyone will age after sometime,” he said, adding, “Don’t you have parents who are aged? This is stupidity.” He warned that social media gives people a platform to vent frustration, and urged them to understand what it truly means to be a troll. “Go and find the meaning of troll and you’ll know what you are actually,” Patel added.

In the show, Sohail revealed that he had shed 12 kg, a fact that fueled the online debate. While some fans expressed concern for his health, describing him as “old and dull,” others compared him unfavorably to his elder brothers. The speculation about Ozempic and other supplements only intensified the criticism.

Outside of acting, Ashmit Patel has appeared in the Gujarati film Layak Nalayakk and works as a DJ. He is scheduled to perform at Vagalumme in Goa on Independence Day, continuing his multifaceted career in entertainment.
