“I was crying every single night for hours and hours, and I would have to get up and go for a shoot,” Anupama told Varma. She added that the abuse left “wounds in my body, not physical abuse, and issues in my body that can never be healed—physical and mental.” The actress emphasized that the relationship felt like a “spider web,” full of gaslighting and manipulation, and that she had to confront the partner about the damage he was causing to her peace of mind.
According to Anupama, the turning point came when she finally saw the partner’s lies and began to confront him. She said the partner tried to make her the problem, but she persisted in exposing the truth. The situation escalated to the point where both families were involved, and the “bubble” broke. After a few days, she had to threaten the man for him to even speak to her, as he never took accountability for his actions. She described seeing “the mask peeling off” and “the demon” in the last ten seconds of a conversation with him.
