Fardeen Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar join Malamaal Weekly 2 cast; comic caper sequel in works

Bollywood Hungama confirmed in February 2026 that the long‑anticipated sequel to the cult comedy Malamaal Weekly is in development. Two months later, the outlet announced that Amit Joshi, known for his work in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024), had been hired to direct the new caper.

Earlier this year, the site reported that Raveena Tandon and Parineeti Chopra had joined the cast, and on August 11 it revealed that veteran actress Shilpa Shirodkar would make her Bollywood comeback after a 26‑year hiatus. Just two days later, on August 13, Elvish Yadav and Rajpal Yadav were confirmed as part of the ensemble.

In a fresh update, Bollywood Hungama disclosed that Fardeen Khan and acclaimed actor Mahesh Manjrekar have signed on for Malamaal Weekly 2. A source told the publication that Fardeen, who has been praised for his performances in various genres since his recent comeback, was eager to be part of a comic caper and accepted the offer immediately. The same source added that Mahesh Manjrekar, celebrated for his versatility, was excited to portray a quirky character in the sequel and believed the role suited his strengths.

Production plans indicate that filming is slated to begin in November 2026. While the sequel will feature an entirely new storyline, it promises to maintain the original’s signature themes: a band of ordinary townsfolk driven by poverty, greed, and the lure of sudden wealth, who find themselves entangled in escalating chaos.

With a star‑studded cast that now includes Fardeen Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Elvish Yadav, and Rajpal Yadav, Malamaal Weekly 2 is shaping up to be a significant return to the genre that first captured audiences in 2006.
