IPL founder Lalit Modi has taken a firm stand against circulating rumors that he will appear on the upcoming season of the reality show Bigg Boss. After several social media accounts posted what they claimed was confirmation of Modi’s participation, the former cricket administrator posted a statement on X, calling the reports “FAKE NEWS. PERIOD.” He added that he had not been approached by the show’s producers and has no intention of joining the cast.
Modi’s tweet, sent early Saturday morning, was accompanied by a legal notice from his law firm, Hirani & Associates. The notice clarified that all claims of his involvement were false, baseless and mischievous. It emphasized that no representative had been authorised to speak on his behalf and that he had not given any consent to appear on Bigg Boss 20.
In the notice, the lawyers warned media outlets and digital platforms that the reports had been published without verification or any authority from Modi. They stressed that his name, image, voice and likeness belong exclusively to him, and no one may suggest an association with the programme without his approval.
The legal letter urged all press, media houses and the public to refrain from publishing, circulating or reproducing the unverified claims. It requested that any existing articles be recalled, withdrawn or taken down, and that future coverage be based on confirmed information from Modi himself.
Bigg Boss 20, set to premiere next month and hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan, has yet to release an official contestant list. While a teaser hinted at a unique concept for the season, the inclusion of Lalit Modi was never confirmed by the show's producers. Modi’s swift response and legal action underline his determination to protect his reputation against misinformation.
