In a heart‑warming turn of events, Malayalam superstar Mammootty found himself guided home by an impromptu fan after a highway closure in Tamil Nadu. The incident unfolded early Saturday morning, around 3:30 am, when the actor, along with actor‑turned politician Ramesh Pisharody and other crew members, were returning to Kerala from Karaikudi, where they had been shooting a new film produced by Mammootty Kampany and directed by Nithish Sahadev.
While en route, the group became stranded at Tirupattur when the highway was blocked. Despite consulting Google Maps and attempting several detours, they could not locate a viable path and eventually decided to head back to their accommodation in Karaikudi. At Pattamangalam, they stopped at a petrol pump and asked a young man for directions. A nearby sleeper approached and asked, “Are you Malayalis?” The man quickly inspected the car, recognized Mammootty, and exclaimed, “Are you Mammootty sir? Follow me!”
What followed was a nearly 10‑kilometre ride on a motorcycle, during which the fan—later identified as Pandyan—steered the actor’s car through roads that even Google Maps had not suggested. He repeatedly urged, “Just go straight. Kerala is right ahead,” pointing the way as the night progressed. Pisharody later reflected that it would be hard to believe the story if recounted the next day, given the extraordinary nature of the encounter.
After arriving safely, Mammootty stepped out of the vehicle, took the fan’s phone, and handed it to Pisharody so he could capture a photograph of the moment. The fan, grateful for the gesture, retrieved his phone, now holding a valuable photo of himself with the megastar. When asked for his name, the fan replied, “Pandyan.” Pisharody jokingly commented, “PANDYAN, PAN INDIAN,” turning the late‑night adventure into a memorable exchange between a star and his devoted admirer.
