Jackky Bhagnani Returns to Acting with 'Tere Rang Mein'; Independence Day Anthem Revives On-Screen Career

Jackky Bhagnani has re‑entered the spotlight after a six‑year hiatus, debuting in the Independence Day anthem “Tere Rang Mein.” The track, released through his own label Jjust Music, served as a vehicle for the actor‑producer to return to the screen with a project that resonated with his personal convictions. “I am a patriot by heart,” Bhagnani told reporters, adding that the patriotic theme of the song made it the ideal platform for his comeback.

Bhagnani’s break from acting was a deliberate choice; during that period he concentrated on film production, a role that allowed him to shape projects from behind the scenes. He explained that producing his own films gave him the freedom to select stories that mattered to him. “I realised that I should produce my own films because if I do that, no one will question it,” he said.

Despite the success of some of his earlier releases, the actor‑producer admitted that he never felt fully recognised as a performer. “I felt that even in the films that were working, I wasn’t getting credibility,” he said. “I wanted the street credibility and respect of Gen Z, they should see that this is made by me.” Consequently, Bhagnani is now looking for roles that offer a fresh, disruptive angle rather than merely being on screen for the sake of it.

In addition to his own career moves, Bhagnani praised his wife, actress Rakul Preet Singh, who is set to portray Surpanakha in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic “Ramayana: Part 1.” He expressed confidence in her ability to bring depth to the character and to showcase her talent to a wider Hindi‑speaking audience. “Rakul is my superstar. She has seen superstardom in the South. She has so much more to offer to the Hindi audience, and Ramayana will do that for her,” he remarked.

The film will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, with Rakul’s performance expected to highlight the nuanced portrayal of Surpanakha. Bhagnani noted the challenge of the role but praised Rakul’s elegance in handling it.
