Bigg Boss Malayalam Competition Begins; Commoners Vie for Reality Show Spot

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8’s pre‑show, titled Agnipareeksha, premiered online on August 15, giving fans an early glimpse of the commoner selection process that will decide who earns a spot in the main reality series. The launch episode streamed from midnight on JioHotstar, ahead of its television debut later that evening on Asianet at 9 PM.

Agnipareeksha is a 21‑episode competition featuring 40 contestants who were chosen through auditions. Unlike the regular Bigg Boss format, these participants are not presented as Season 8 housemates from the start; instead, they must prove themselves in a series of tasks and rely on audience votes to progress. The show’s judging panel includes former Bigg Boss Malayalam contestants Akhil Marar, Ranjini Haridas and Riyas Salim, while Season 5 alum Reneesha Rahiman hosts the programme.

The broadcast schedule for Agnipareeksha has been announced: it will air weekdays at 10 PM and weekends at 9 PM on Asianet, with all episodes also available on JioHotstar. The launch episode’s early online availability allows viewers to catch the competition before its TV telecast, while the televised premiere aligns with the weekend timing announced for the opening episode.

With the launch episode now online, Agnipareeksha has officially begun its quest to identify commoners who can earn a place in Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 8. Subsequent episodes will track the contestants’ performances and reveal which individuals ultimately secure a spot in the main season.
