Yash’s highly anticipated revenge thriller Toxic has finally cleared the way for a theatrical release, set for August 26 after a series of postponements that were largely driven by a potential clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2. The Kannada star’s film was originally slated for a March 19 launch, a date that would have seen it compete head‑to‑head with the much‑anticipated sequel to Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. The overlap prompted speculation that Yash was deliberately avoiding a box‑office battle, but the actor clarified that his decision was rooted in a different concern.
Speaking on the popular talk show Aap Ki Adalat, Yash explained that the March release was postponed due to “uncertainty in the Middle East,” a factor that forced the makers to push the film back to June and then again to an unspecified date. When asked whether the delay was an attempt to dodge the Dhurandhar clash, Yash said, “When my movie was supposed to release on March 19 and was postponed, I know a lot of people said about me ki main bhi darr gaya (I got scared). Zindagi me khone ka kuch hai hi nahi to darr hai hi nahi (I have nothing to lose in life, so I have no fear).” He went on to admit that his real fear was not about missing out on revenue but about delivering a film that would disappoint his audience.
Yash elaborated that the worry was “that what I make should not be bad.” He added, “People think that it will affect me if the film makes ₹100-200 crore less. But no! We had nothing on us. Whatever we have right now is a bonus. However much we lose from that, there will always be a surplus. My fear is that what I make should not be bad.” This candid admission underscores the actor’s commitment to quality over commercial calculations.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic boasts a star‑packed ensemble that includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria. The film’s final release date was announced on Father’s Day, giving fans a clear timeline for when they can experience Yash’s latest cinematic venture. With the clash with Dhurandhar 2 avoided, Toxic is poised to capture the attention of audiences across India without the pressure of competing box‑office numbers.
Entertainment journalist Abhimanyu Mathur, Deputy Editor at Hindustan Times, notes that Yash’s decision reflects a broader trend among filmmakers to prioritize creative integrity over strategic release timing. As Toxic heads into theaters, all eyes will be on how the film performs in a market that has become increasingly crowded with high‑profile releases.
