Bollywood Hungama confirmed that the long‑awaited sequel to the cult comedy Malamaal Weekly is now in production, with director Amit Joshi—known for 2024’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya—at the helm. The film’s ensemble is shaping up to be a star‑studded affair, featuring Paresh Rawal, Raveena Tandon, Parineeti Chopra, Shilpa Shirodkar, Fardeen Khan, Mahesh Manjrekar and Elvish Yadav.
In a major industry announcement, veteran producer Subhash Kale, founder of Camera Take Films and Vikrant Studio, has entered a strategic mega‑collaboration with seasoned financier and producer S. Chandraprakash Jain of Sri Mishri Productions. The partnership aims to elevate Malamaal Weekly 2 to a scale far beyond the original, combining Kale’s technical expertise—highlighted by work on blockbusters such as Padmaavat (2018), Stree (2018), Kedarnath (2018) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022)—with Jain’s extensive distribution network and experience across more than 1,800 films.
According to a source close to the project, the duo’s collaboration is described as “unmatched in every sense.” Kale will contribute advanced AI workflows, visual effects, and top‑tier post‑production and line‑production services, while Jain brings decades of trade know‑how and a deep distribution reach. The combined resources are expected to deliver a theatrical release with high‑grade production values and a grand cinematic experience.
Beyond the sequel, Kale’s banner is already managing a robust slate of high‑profile titles, including The Confession starring Nana Patekar, Bhagam Bhag 2 with Akshay Kumar, and a biopic on V. Shantaram featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tamannaah Bhatia.
With a powerhouse cast and the formidable partnership of Camera Take Films and Sri Mishri Productions, Malamaal Weekly 2 is poised to become one of the most ambitious comedy ventures in recent Indian cinema.
