For fans who missed the theatrical run of several high‑profile releases, a slate of new titles is hitting streaming platforms this week. The first arrivals are two Malayalam films on ManoramaMAX: Aroopi and Amoeba. Aroopi, directed by Abhilash Warrier, follows a family unraveling an ancient curse tied to the mysterious Aryanattu estate. The supernatural thriller features Vysakh Ravi, Neha Chawla, Sakshi Badala, Joy Mathew and Sindhu Varma and will be available from 21 August.
Just a day later, Amoeba will stream on ManoramaMAX. The film, directed by Manoj Kana, dramatises the aftermath of the Endosulfan tragedy in Kasaragod. It stars Anumol, Aneesh G. Menon, Athmiya Rajan, Indrans and Anoop Chandran, and is praised for its sensitive treatment and strong performances.
Moving to Disney+ Hotstar, I, Nobody drops on 25 August. Nissam Basheer’s drama follows a couple who find themselves entangled in a bank heist, with Prithviraj Sukumaran leading a cast that also includes Parvathy Thiruvothu, Sanju Sivaram and Hakim Shajahan.
Also premiering on 25 August is the Tamil film Jananayagan, which has generated considerable buzz. The movie, starring superstar Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, marks Vijay’s final on‑screen appearance before he turns his focus to politics. The story centers on a foster parent‑child relationship and promises action and an engaging plot. The film will stream on JioHotstar.
