Quality Control Music co‑founder Pierre “P” Thomas, 41, has been admitted to a Las Vegas hospital after suffering a heart attack, according to reports from TMZ and the label’s own Instagram account. The ICU admission follows a sudden cardiac event that has prompted doctors to monitor Thomas closely as he receives intensive care.
Thomas, who helped build Quality Control into a $300 million hip‑hop empire alongside partner Kevin “Coach K” Lee, was first recognized for his work in the industry after a stint with the small label Dirty Dolla Entertainment. In March 2013 he and Lee launched Quality Control Music in Atlanta, where they invested $1 million in a bunker‑style headquarters that houses four recording studios.
The duo’s roster has included major acts such as Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, City Girls, Rich the Kid and Stefflon Don. The label’s breakthrough came with Migos’ “Culture,” a double‑platinum release that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and Lil Baby’s “My Turn,” which also topped the chart and earned triple‑platinum status.
In 2019, Quality Control expanded into sports management through a partnership with Roc Nation Sports, forming Quality Control Sports to represent NFL players and boxers. Two years later, in 2023, the company was acquired by Hybe America—a label headed by Scooter Braun—in a deal valued at roughly $300 million in cash and stock, as reported by the New York Times and Variety.
While Thomas’s individual net worth remains undisclosed, Forbes cited a combined $300 million net worth for him and Coach K as of 2021, derived from record sales, touring, merchandising and brand partnerships.
Quality Control Music posted a statement on Instagram clarifying that Thomas is alive and under medical care, urging fans to keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers while respecting their privacy.
