At a celebratory gathering in Kochi on the release day of Prithviraj’s action‑drama Khalifa, the film’s makers unveiled plans for a sequel titled Khalifa: The Legacy. The announcement was made in front of a crowd that included the film’s stars and other prominent actors, signalling a strong confidence in the franchise’s future.
Central to the new chapter is the return of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who will reprise his role as Mambarackal Ahamad Ali. In the original film, Mohanlal’s cameo came late in the story and was highlighted as one of the key moments that kept audiences engaged. Speaking at the success meet, the veteran actor expressed his gratitude to the director, writer and co‑star Prithviraj for the opportunity, adding that he always hopes his projects turn into “grand successes.” He then lightened the mood with a playful remark, saying the character “is a nice guy” and encouraging the audience to give him a chance to do “a lot of good things.”
In addition to Mohanlal, the sequel will feature Tovino Thomas, Soubin Shahir and Prithviraj in pivotal roles. The original film received a mixed response from viewers, but its high‑energy action sequences and Jakes Bejoy’s pulsating soundtrack were widely praised for enhancing the movie’s visual appeal.
With the sequel confirmed and a star‑studded cast assembled, Khalifa: The Legacy is poised to build on the momentum of its predecessor and deliver another blockbuster experience to Malayalam cinema fans.
