Toxic event chaos; four injured as speaker stand collapses

On Saturday night, a speaker stand collapsed during the pre‑release event of the film “Toxic” in Hyderabad, leaving four people injured, including a student. The incident occurred at the Malla Reddy University campus in Medchal, where a group of young fans had climbed onto the stand to get a better view of the stage. The stand suddenly gave way, sending the climbers hurtling to the ground. One of the injured suffered a fractured leg, while the other three sustained minor injuries.

Police responded quickly and transported all four victims to a nearby hospital. A senior police officer confirmed that the injuries were treated on site before the patients were transferred. Following the incident, the Cyberabad Police registered a case against both the venue’s management and the event’s organizer, though they did not disclose the specific charges.

Lead actor Yash was on stage when the collapse happened. He paused his speech to check on the audience, asking, “Are they okay? Please check.” After seeing more fans attempting to climb other speaker stands, he halted the event again and urged the organizers to tend to the injured before proceeding.

The “Toxic” pre‑release event was captured on video by attendees, and the footage quickly spread across social media. The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas and featuring actors such as Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi, has already generated significant buzz with ₹18 crore in advance bookings on its first day of pre‑sales. It is set for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26, produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
