Indian film star Ajith Kumar, who has built a reputation as a professional motor‑car racer, was involved in a high‑speed collision during an endurance event in Europe. The incident, which took place while he was competing in the Asian Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup, saw his car lose control and strike another vehicle. Despite the severity of the crash, Kumar emerged unhurt and without serious injuries.
Kumar’s racing résumé is extensive. He has taken part in international championships such as the GT4 European Series in Italy, the Porsche Sprint Challenge in Valencia, Spain, and the 24H Dubai endurance race. In 2025, he survived a dramatic double‑rollover in the Porsche Sprint Challenge and a separate crash in the GT4 European Series, all without sustaining injuries. Earlier, he had raced in the Formula Asia BMW Championships in 2003 and participated in events like the Creventic 24H Series.
When asked by The Hollywood Reporter India about his mindset after crashes, Kumar explained that his first reaction is to assess his own safety and the condition of the car. “I try to understand if I have been hurt. That’s my immediate response. How bad am I hurt, how bad the car is, and if I can restart,” he said. He added that once he confirms he is fine, adrenaline kicks in and the focus shifts to finishing the race, while also considering the emotional toll on his family.
Despite the dangers, Kumar has remained committed to racing. He noted that he has avoided significant injuries that would force him to miss a practice session or race, and he contrasts this with the 29 surgeries he has undergone in his film career. He reflected on the importance of learning from setbacks and the role of financial stability in shaping one’s approach to life and sport.
On the cinematic front, Kumar’s recent releases include Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly. He is slated to appear next in the film Daredevil, directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The actor’s dual career as a leading film star and a seasoned racer continues to capture the attention of fans worldwide.
