The news was confirmed by her son, Akkash Bharadwaj, who shared that his mother died around 7:30 p.m. The family carried out her last rites the following morning at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West.
Aasha Singh Jaiswal had a prolific career spanning television, film and live performances. She is best remembered for her portrayal of Kripi, the sister of Kripacharya, in B.R. Chopra’s legendary mythological series Mahabharat. Her filmography includes supporting roles in titles such as Baazigar, Bobby Jasoos, Deewangee, Aag, Kayda Kanoon, Aansu Bane Angaarey and Ghar Bazar.
Beyond acting, Aasha was a pioneering female mimicry artist, renowned for her uncanny voice impressions of the late actress Meena Kumari. She also founded Aasha Events and Films and was active in social work, using her platform to support various causes.
In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, Akkash honored his mother as an “Iron Lady,” urging fans to keep her legacy alive by watching and remembering her performances. He wrote, “She was a dedicated ‘Iron Lady’. Please pray for the peace and salvation of her soul. Do make sure to view and remember her work on social media, so that wherever her soul may be, she feels happy knowing that you are still seeing and remembering her contributions.” He added that her life was defined by her deeds, hoping that her legacy brings ultimate bliss to those who remember her.
Her passing marks the loss of a versatile talent who bridged traditional acting with the art of mimicry, leaving a lasting impact on Indian television and cinema.
