Cinema VinesEmraan Hashmi’s crime‑thriller sequel, Awarapan 2, has been a steady performer at the box office, crossing the ₹100 crore mark in its opening week and inching closer to the ₹200 crore milestone worldwide. The film, which hit screens on August 14 alongside Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, has maintained a strong presence in theatres for ten days, buoyed by solid footfall and positive word‑of‑mouth.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the movie collected ₹8.75 crore net in India on its tenth day, bringing the domestic net total to ₹136.25 crore. With a 21% occupancy across 13,632 shows, the film’s gross in India reached ₹162.50 crore. Internationally, Awarapan 2 earned ₹1.50 crore on Day 10, pushing overseas gross to ₹30.30 crore and bringing the worldwide total to ₹192.80 crore—just ₹8 crore shy of the ₹200 crore target.
The second weekend offered a boost after a modest Friday. The film added ₹5.75 crore on its second Friday from 9,858 screens, and Saturday’s earnings jumped to ₹8.25 crore net—a 43.5% rise—across 10,008 shows. Overall occupancy hovered at 18%, with evening and night shows seeing stronger turnout, climbing to 33.85% occupancy.
From the outset, Awarapan 2 displayed a powerful opening, taking in ₹22 crore net on Day 1. The following day, collections surged 53.4% to ₹33.75 crore net, the highest single‑day haul yet. Day 3 added another ₹26 crore net, bringing the opening weekend total to ₹81.75 crore. By the end of the first week, the film had amassed ₹113.50 crore net in India, comfortably surpassing the ₹100 crore benchmark.
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the film reunites Emraan Hashmi as Shivam Pandit with a supporting cast that includes Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Puran Gabbi, Anirudh Rawal, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
