Cinema VinesPrithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam action thriller Khalifa has wrapped up its opening weekend, pulling in a total of ₹11.53 crore net in India and ₹27.68 crore worldwide after four days of release. The film, which hit theatres on August 20, was directed by Vysakh and produced by Jinu V. Abraham Innovation, with Abraham also penning the script.
Day‑four figures, as tracked by Sacnilk, show the film earned ₹1.88 crore net on Sunday, a slight dip of about 1.1% from Saturday’s ₹1.90 crore. The Thursday opening net stood at ₹5.35 crore, followed by ₹2.40 crore on Friday and ₹1.90 crore on Saturday, bringing the cumulative India net to ₹11.53 crore. The Sunday run saw a 37% occupancy, up from 31% on Saturday and 32% on Friday.
Internationally, Khalifa has collected ₹14.25 crore overseas, adding to the India gross of ₹13.43 crore to reach a worldwide total of ₹27.68 crore. The film’s overseas performance has helped it maintain a steady trajectory across markets.
The plot centers on a powerful gold‑smuggling kingpin whose criminal empire spans the Middle East and India. Prithviraj leads the cast alongside Neil Nitin Mukesh, Indrans, Sanju Sivaram, and Shammi Thilakan, with a cameo appearance by Mohanlal. The film’s action sequences were choreographed by Yannick Ben, Chethan D’Souza, and Phoenix Prabhu, while Jomon T. John handled cinematography, Jakes Bejoy composed the score, and Chaman Chakko edited the film.
With Day 5 on the calendar, audiences will soon see how Khalifa performs on weekdays. The film’s performance so far suggests a steady decline from the opening peak, but its strong overseas haul indicates a solid global reception.
