Emraan Hashmi’s latest venture, Awarapan 2, continues to defy expectations at the box office. The film, which hit screens on August 14, has maintained a steady run despite a sharp drop in audience numbers on its second Monday. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the sequel collected ₹2.75 crore net on August 24, bringing its total domestic net to ₹139 crore.
While the film experienced a 68.6% decline from Sunday’s ₹8.75 crore net, it still managed to attract roughly 10% occupancy across 11,344 shows. The drop is part of a typical weekday slowdown, yet the movie’s performance remains robust enough to keep it in the conversation for the ₹150 crore milestone in India and the coveted ₹200 crore club worldwide.
Awarapan 2 opened strongly, earning ₹22 crore net on its first day. The Independence Day holiday boosted the second day’s earnings by 53.4%, resulting in a record single‑day collection of ₹33.75 crore net. The third day added another ₹26 crore net, taking the opening weekend total to ₹81.75 crore. By the end of its first week, the film had crossed the ₹100 crore mark, finishing with ₹113.50 crore net in India.
Globally, the film has already amassed ₹196.55 crore, just ₹3.45 crore shy of the ₹200 crore threshold. If it reaches that mark, it will become Hashmi’s first solo film to cross the ₹200 crore worldwide benchmark. The sequel is directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, featuring Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key roles alongside a supporting cast that includes Puran Gabbi, Anirudh Rawal, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
Rumours of a third installment have surfaced, with writer Bilal Siddiqui expressing excitement about the possibility. He told the Hindustan Times that he has not yet spoken with Bhatt about future plans but hopes the producer will consider a continuation soon. For now, Awarapan 2 remains a strong performer, proving that its box office run is far from slowing down.
