Reliance Industries’ media arm, Jio Studios, has announced that it is negotiating a production deal with Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Media Entertainment Private Limited for the upcoming Hindi feature Chauhaan, which will star Ajay Devgn. The details were disclosed in a public notice published by Reliance in the August 22, 2026 issue of Complete Cinema magazine.
According to the notice, Chauhaan will be written and directed by Neeraj Yadav, while Aanand L Rai is slated to serve as creative director. The agreement, still in the works, outlines a comprehensive rights structure that would see Jio Studios acquire 50 % of the intellectual property rights and 50 % of the derivative rights of the film, covering the underlying works in all languages worldwide and in perpetuity.
More importantly, Jio Studios would obtain 100 % of the exploitation rights for the film and all related material across languages, platforms, media, and formats, encompassing both current and future modes of distribution. The studio would also hold full ownership of the music rights for Chauhaan globally and forever.
The notice further states that Jio Studios will have the first‑offer right to produce, together with Colour Yellow, any audio‑visual derivative works based on the film. Reliance has opened a seven‑day window for any individual, company, or entity that may have a claim, objection, or interest in the proposed arrangement, the film, or its rights to submit evidence and objections.
While the production agreement remains in the negotiation stage, the public notice provides the first detailed glimpse into the ownership and exploitation framework planned for the Ajay Devgn‑starrer. The film also features Vikrant Massey in a layered grey character, as reported in recent scoops.
