On July 6, Arjun Kapoor’s sister Anshula Kapoor married her longtime boyfriend, Rohan Thakkar, in a ceremony that blended intimacy with grandeur. The event drew a close‑knit crowd, and the couple’s joy was captured in a series of photos and videos that quickly circulated online.
During the festivities, Anshula posted a video on Instagram that revealed a deeply emotional moment on stage. Her brother, the Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, broke into tears as he spoke about their late mother, Mona Shourie Kapoor, who had passed away in 2012. He addressed the audience, saying, “I want to take this moment to speak about our mom,” and continued, “She would have loved every single moment over these last few days. She would have loved every ritual. She would have loved every tiny detail and done exactly the way Rohan's family wanted.”
Arjun went on to describe how his mother would have celebrated the day, adding, “She would have danced. She would have celebrated, and somehow she would have found a way to personally take care of each and every one of you who is here today.” He also noted, “I know she is here with us tonight because itni jo baarish ho rahi hai na bahar, woh unke khushi ke aanshu hain. That's her blessings and she is blessing both of you.” His speech was interrupted when Anshula hugged him, causing him to cry openly in front of the guests.
In the video, Anshula reflected on the rawness of the moment, writing, “I’ve watched this video so many times, and I always end up watching Bhai more than I watch myself. The way he looks at me. The way he tries to hold it together. The pride, the happiness, the tears… all of it.” She added, “We’ve grown up together, annoyed the life out of each other, protected each other… We’ve already lived so many different versions of life side by side. And now there’s this one too. So much has changed, and so much will keep changing.” She concluded with a promise to her brother, “Bhai, no matter where life takes us, I’ll always be your little sister. And you’ll always be home to me. Love you always and forever.”
Mona Shourie Kapoor, the first wife of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and mother of actors Arjun and Anshula, died on March 25, 2012, at the age of 48 after battling cancer and hypertension. Her death occurred just weeks before Arjun’s Bollywood debut in “Ishaqzaade,” adding a layer of poignancy to the wedding celebration. The family’s tribute to her memory, seen through Arjun’s heartfelt speech, underscored the enduring bond between mother and children even after her passing.
