Cinema VinesKalyani Priyadarshan, the Malayalam actress who has captivated audiences with her roles in films like Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, is set to make her Bollywood debut in the zombie thriller Pralay. The film, directed by Jai Mehta and produced by Ananya Birla, Hansal Mehta, Sahil Saigal and Ranveer Singh’s Maa Kasam Films, will see Kalyani share the screen with Ranveer Singh.
While the actress has traditionally celebrated the harvest festival of Onam by posting photos of the lavish Sadhya feast and her traditional kasavu saree, this year she chose to focus on her shoot in Mumbai. In a recent Instagram post, Kalyani wished her fans a happy Onam but explained that she was “fully locked in to Pralay in Mumbai this Onam,” and therefore missed the family gathering, the Sadhya and the usual festive content. She instead shared a montage of behind‑the‑scenes moments from the past couple of months.
The Mumbai shoot has kept Kalyani busy with a mix of promotional work and on‑location filming. She posted selfies, photo‑shoot snippets, and even a glimpse of her new city home where she was seen picking paint colors. A celebratory birthday photo from April, where she blew out candles on three cakes with friends, also made the rounds.
Fans were particularly excited to see a sneak peek of the Pralay script, a rare treat given the film’s upcoming release. Kalyani’s transition from Malayalam cinema to Hindi cinema follows her record‑breaking 2025 hit Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which earned over ₹300 crore worldwide and became the highest‑grossing Malayalam film and the highest‑grossing female‑led film in India.
Alongside her Hindi debut, Kalyani has Tamil projects lined up, including Genie and Marshal. Her diverse portfolio and academic background—a Master’s in Journalism and over a decade of experience in print and digital media—add depth to her acting career.
