In a surprising turn of events on the popular reality show Lock Upp season 2, actress Akanksha Chamola stunned viewers by announcing that she and her husband, actor Gaurav Khanna, were on the brink of divorce. The revelation came after months of speculation about the couple’s marriage, which had been quietly maintained since their wedding in November 2016 in Kanpur.
During the show, Chamola also opened up about her sexuality, stating that she had been bisexual before marrying Khanna. She explained that her husband had known about her orientation prior to their wedding and that he found it “very hot.” In an interview with Mid‑Day, she said, “I have very specifically mentioned that I was bisexual before I got married. My husband accepted that because he did find it to be a very hot thing. Guys find it very hot.”
Chamola added that she would not cheat on Khanna, choosing to remain faithful to one partner. She also discussed a shift in her sexual identity, claiming that after the divorce she had become asexual. “I have chosen to be with this one person. I will stick to that one person,” she said, before noting that many heterosexual women become asexual over time and that her past bisexuality was no longer relevant.
The actress’s comments were met with backlash on social media, especially after she described her separation from Khanna as a “phase” and later reiterated this point on a podcast with Tejasswi Prakash. Her remarks were seen as dismissive by many fans, who had previously praised her for keeping her personal life private.
Chamola and Khanna first met while filming a television project and quickly fell in love, culminating in a lavish three‑day wedding in 2016. Over the years, the pair maintained a low profile, supporting each other’s careers—Khanna rose to fame with shows like CID and Anupamaa, while Chamola appeared in Swaragini, Bhootu and Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye. In January 2026, she dismissed rumours of marital trouble, stating there was “absolutely no trouble” between them, only to reveal their impending split a few months later.
With more than nine years of marriage behind them, the couple’s split has shocked fans and highlighted the complex dynamics of modern relationships in the entertainment industry. Chamola’s candidness about her sexuality and her decision to remain faithful, despite the challenges, has sparked conversations about acceptance and the evolving nature of sexual identity.
