Anud Singh Dhaka’s Triple Love for Lucknow University; He’s Played an LU Student Three Times

Actor Anud Singh Dhaka, a Bhopal native who studied at St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai, has become a familiar face on Lucknow University’s campus after shooting three television projects there. The 2023 film Janhit Mein Jaari marked his first major role, but it was his work on the series Taj Mahal 1989 (2020), Love J Action (2021) and most recently Dil Cheer Ke Dekho that cemented his association with the university.

Dhaka says the university has been instrumental in shaping his career. “I know so much about the university that during the shoot, someone asked, ‘Where is the chemistry department?’ and I was like, ‘Aagey se right lelo!’ They asked, ‘How do you know that?’ and I was like, ‘Apna purana rishta hai university se.’ Three times lucky!” he laughed. He has played a student in every one of the three productions, first as a psychology student in Taj Mahal 1989, then as the lead in Love J Action, and again as a small‑town lad turned LU student in Dil Cheer Ke Dekho.

Beyond the campus, Dhaka has filmed two additional projects in Lucknow. After Taj Mahal 1989, he shot an ad with Amitabh Bachchan for KBC while the actor was filming Gulabo Sitabo (2020) in the city. He also worked on Tamanche Pe Disco and Psycho Saiyaan (2026), both directed by Sachin Pandey, with interiors shot at a different college but exterior shots set at Lucknow University.

Speaking about his growing attachment to the city, Dhaka joked that if he lands more projects there, he might buy a house. “After shooting five projects, I know so much about the city, its culture, people, and the local cuisine. From April till August, I shot two series back‑to‑back and literally established a mini‑home here,” he said. His repeated visits have made Lucknow University a second home, and he credits the campus with giving him a platform that helped launch his acting career.
