Cinema VinesDaboo Malik has taken to Instagram to share an emotional message for his son, music composer Amaal Mallik, after the release of the film Awarapan 2 and the backlash that followed its soundtrack. In his post, the veteran composer praised his son’s perseverance and the team that worked on the film, calling himself a “Proud Father” while reflecting on the challenges Amaal faced during production.
In the message, Daboo noted that after the song was released, “Messages were sent, calls were made, negativity was spread, judgments were passed… but sometimes the magic happens against all odds.” He congratulated the crew of Awarapan 2, including Vishesh Bhatt, Nitin Kakkar, Vishesh Films and star Emraan Hashmi, and highlighted the personal significance of the track “Yeh Awarapan,” sung by Arijit Singh, which Amaal had dedicated to his father’s musical journey.
Amaal Mallik had earlier defended the track in a live Instagram session, claiming that a coordinated “paid PR campaign” was launched by the music industry to undermine his work. He later posted in his Stories that “criticism is different from manufactured hate” and announced a temporary break from film music to heal his mind, body and soul.
The controversy followed the song’s release, when fans compared it to the iconic music of the 2007 original film. Amaal, who made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with “Jai Ho,” had already faced family‑related tensions, having cut personal ties with his parents in March 2025 to maintain professional boundaries. He later re‑united with the family after his brother Armaan Malik’s wedding.
Despite the criticism, Daboo’s heartfelt tribute underscores the resilience of the Malik family in the face of public scrutiny, and it highlights the emotional bond between father and son as they navigate the pressures of the music industry.
