Chandrachur Singh files FIR over forged will; accuses relatives of theft

Actor Chandrachur Singh has lodged a formal complaint with the police over a long‑standing family inheritance dispute, claiming that a will left by his grandfather was forged to deny his late father his rightful share of the family property. The FIR, registered on Friday at the Rorawar police station in Aligarh, names his aunt Gaytri Devi, two cousins and four other relatives as alleged conspirators in the forgery.

According to the complaint, the will was signed in 1997 when grandfather Thakur Harender Pal Singh was reportedly gravely ill and allegedly incapable of authorizing legal documents. Singh accuses uncle Ganga Singh and other family members of tampering with the document, which he says deprived his father, former Congress MLA Captain Baldev Singh, of his inheritance. He also points out that his father was not present in Aligarh at the time the will was supposedly executed and that another uncle, Puniya Pratap Singh, had already died before the will was made.

The actor alleges that several valuable properties listed in the disputed will were sold over the years, and he claims to have gathered enough evidence to support his allegations. After the FIR was filed, Singh recorded his statement before the police, confirming the details of his complaint.

Gaytri Devi, who has been named in the FIR, had previously denied the accusations, insisting that the will was genuine and that Chandrachur Singh was attempting to falsely implicate her. The family dispute entered the public eye last year when she made these rebuttals. Captain Baldev Singh, the actor’s father, had served as an MLA for Aligarh city before passing away a few years ago.

Police have now opened an investigation into the allegations. At this stage, the claims made by Chandrachur Singh remain allegations and have not yet been proven. The case has added a new chapter to the actor’s public life, who is known for his roles in films such as Maachis, Kya Kehna and Josh, where he starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
