Arshad Warsi Reveals Jaya Bachchan Warned His Wife About Marrying an Actor; The Veteran Actress Shares Her Insight

In a recent interview with Filmigyan, Bollywood comedian Arshad Warsi reflected on a piece of advice he received from veteran actress Jaya Bachchan before his wedding to Maria Goretti. According to Warsi, Bachchan warned his future wife that marrying an actor is one of the toughest challenges in life. “It is one of the most difficult things to do in life, is to marry an actor,” the veteran actress is quoted as saying, underscoring the unique pressures that come with a career in the film industry.

Wars Warsi, best known for his role as Munna Bhai in the popular film series, described Bachchan as an intelligent woman who shared her own experience. He recalled that she asked them, “Are you ready for it?” before the ceremony, highlighting the demands that an actor’s job places on personal relationships. “Because your job makes you do things that are not normal for a normal couple,” Warsi explained, adding that the love between an actor and their partner must surpass ordinary expectations.

Jaya Bachchan, who has been married to Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan for over five decades, knows firsthand the sacrifices required in such a partnership. The couple met on the set of the 1971 film *Guddi*, grew closer during the 1972 shoot of *Ek Nazar*, and tied the knot in 1973 after the success of *Zanjeer*. Together they raised two children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan, and now enjoy three grandchildren: Navya, Agastya, and Aaradhya.

In a 2025 interview with Mojo Story, Bachchan shared her perspective on marriage, stating, “I have not asked him. He might say that ‘biggest mistake of my life’, but I don’t want to hear that. Do you have to dig into old wounds? I have been married for the last 52 years to the same man. I can’t love more than that.” She concluded that her marriage was a love‑at‑first‑sight experience and that she would not advise others against marriage, despite the challenges she and her husband have faced.
