Cinema VinesStray Kids’ Lee Know has pledged a donation of 100 million won—about US$72,600—to aid families devastated by the recent floods in Nepal. The K‑pop star transferred the money through World Vision on August 28 and specifically requested that it be used for immediate relief and for helping affected households rebuild their lives.
In a statement released by his agency, JYP Entertainment, Lee Know expressed his hope that the contribution would bring comfort to those in distress. “I hope my support can offer a little strength to those going through this difficult time,” he said, adding that he sincerely wishes for the flood‑affected people and relief workers to return to a peaceful daily life as soon as possible.
World Vision will allocate the funds to provide food, temporary shelter, clean water and basic sanitation to families displaced by the floods. The organization has long been a partner of Lee Know’s; he has been sponsoring children through World Vision since 2014 and has made several other charitable donations in recent years, including a 100 million‑won gift to tackle the global food crisis in 2024 and two separate 100 million‑won donations on his birthday last year—one to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul and another to the cat‑rescue group Nabiya Saranghae.
Lee Know’s gesture comes amid a hectic schedule for Stray Kids, who released their EP This & That on August 7, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The group is also touring worldwide with their Run It tour, which began in Seoul on July 25.
The floods that swept through Nepal have caused extensive damage, leaving thousands of families in urgent need of assistance. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, roughly 10,000 households require immediate relief. The death toll has risen to at least 800, with more than 3,000 people still missing, and the Nepalese foreign ministry reports that 886 people have been rescued so far.
