Cinema VinesSunny Deol has bounced back into the studio just days after the release of his latest film, Batwara 1947. The action star, who had enjoyed a box‑office triumph with Gadar 2: The Katha Continues last year, is now juggling four projects, starting with the cop thriller Antony.
Deol returned to Film City on August 26 to shoot the high‑octane sequences for Antony, an Excel Entertainment production directed by Balaji Ganesh. The film follows a police officer who takes on a crime syndicate, and Deol’s scenes include intense car chases choreographed by action director Ravi Verma. He is expected to wrap up his work on the thriller by October.
After Antony, the actor will switch gears to the mythological arena with Ramayana: Part 2, the sequel to Nitesh Tiwari’s epic. While his role as Lord Hanuman is only a cameo in the first film, the sequel promises expanded action and dramatic moments for Deol. Ranbir Kapoor has already begun filming his portions for the project.
In addition, Deol is slated to begin work on Jaat 2 by December, though director Gopichand Malineni’s current commitments may delay the start. The producers are weighing whether to wait for Malineni or bring in a new director. Early next year, the actor is also set to start shooting Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak Ghus Ke Maarega, adding another action‑drama to his already packed schedule.
Despite the mixed reception of Batwara 1947, which critics say failed to capture the momentum of its predecessor, Deol’s slate of upcoming films showcases his versatility across action, drama, and mythology. Fans can expect a steady stream of new content from the veteran star in the coming months.
