Actress Mamitha Baiju was rushed to hospital after a sudden, high fever forced her to cancel a planned trip to Australia this week. The 27‑year‑old star was set to travel to Melbourne to serve as the chief guest at an Onam celebration organized by the Clyde Malayali Association.
Baiju confirmed that she is currently receiving treatment in a local hospital and that doctors have advised her to rest completely. She added that she was also suffering from body aches, allergies and an asthma flare‑up, which made travel impossible at the moment.
Speaking to reporters, the actress expressed her disappointment at missing the community gathering. “I would have attended if my health had permitted it, but I have no other option but to cancel the trip,” she said. She apologized to the organizers and to those who had been looking forward to her presence.
Baiju added that she hopes to have another opportunity to visit and participate in future celebrations. Meanwhile, her latest film, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, continues to run successfully in theatres, with her portrayal of Ashley highlighted as a key strength of the film.
