Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘I’m Game’ Opens With Rs 2.76cr; Still Trails ‘King Of Kotha’

Dulquer Salmaan’s much‑anticipated action thriller I’m Game opened on Thursday, September 3, 2026, with advance booking takings of ₹2.76 crore, according to Track Bollywood. The film, directed by Nahas Hidhayath and co‑produced by Salmaan, features a star‑studded cast that includes Antony Varghese, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, Samyuktha Viswanathan, Kathir, Vinay Forrt and Parth Tiwari.

In the story, Salmaan plays Dan John, a gambler who relies on luck and finds himself embroiled in a series of unexpected events that promise a mix of action, fun and surprise. The film marks Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema after a three‑year hiatus and is billed as his highest‑budget venture to date.

While the advance bookings were solid, they fell short of the ₹3.04 crore presales achieved by King of Kotha. Salmaan explained that the money raised will help build a larger cinematic universe, hinting at future sequels and a franchise built around the world he is creating.

“It’s definitely my highest‑budgeted film,” Salmaan said. “As a producer and as an actor, this is the biggest budget I’ve done yet. In my head, because I was like, we have to kind of build this world. And if we’re doing multiple films and it’s going to be a universe we’re creating, I have to invest in the first film. This is my only thing.”

With 1.59 lakh tickets sold on the opening day, I’m Game has generated a respectable opening, though it still trails behind King of Kotha in presale figures. Fans remain optimistic about the film’s potential to become a franchise, as Salmaan’s comments suggest a long‑term vision for the story’s universe.
