Cinema VinesLos Angeles – HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” television series has announced new cast members for its second season. British actor Lenny Rush will portray the beloved house‑elf Dobby, while Bonnie Hill will take over the role of Ginny Weasley from Gracie Cochrane, who left the show for unforeseen reasons.
Rush, known for his work on the comedy series “Am I Being Unreasonable?” and Apple TV’s “The Completely Made‑Up Adventures of Dick Turpin,” will join the ensemble that also includes Billy Barratt as the younger Tom Riddle. The second season will adapt “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” with the story set to follow Harry as he faces new challenges at Hogwarts.
The series, which wrapped production on its first season and is slated to premiere on HBO on December 25, is already in pre‑production at Leavesden Studios outside London. Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the show, while Mark Mylod will direct and executive produce several episodes.
Other key cast members feature Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
The production is a collaboration between HBO, Brontë Film and TV, and Warner Bros Television, with J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley‑Letts, and David Heyman of Heyday Films serving as executive producers. The new adaptation promises to bring the globally popular seven‑book saga to life for a new generation of viewers.
