Shreya Ghoshal praises hubby’s domestic heroics; he’d be upset if she cleans

Singer Shreya Ghoshal, who has been one of India’s most celebrated playback voices since her debut in the 2002 film Devdas, recently opened up about her private life in an interview with The Male Feminist Podcast. The 39‑year‑old, who has maintained a low profile outside her music career, described her husband Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya as a “domestic hero” who handles all household chores, a role she says keeps the couple’s relationship balanced and free of ego clashes.

Ghoshal, who married Mukhopadhyaya in 2015, shared that the couple shares the same work ethic, often juggling long hours and then tackling chores together. “He takes care of the whole house,” she explained. “He does not even… because he loves to live on his own terms, he will wash his own dishes, he will do kitchen cleaning. And he will be upset if I do it.” The singer added that both partners are “very similar” in this regard, noting that they rarely complain about each other’s absences or responsibilities.

The couple’s love story dates back to their childhood. They have known each other for almost thirty years, meeting when Shreya began her professional singing career and Shiladitya was building a tech‑industry career. After a decade of dating, they married in a traditional Bengali ceremony on 5 February 2015. Six years later, in 2021, they welcomed a son, Devyaan, and the family now resides in Mumbai.

Ghoshal’s comments highlight a partnership built on mutual respect and shared domestic duties, a rarity in many celebrity relationships. She praised her husband’s willingness to “take care of the whole house” and noted that he “has never demanded that why you are not here? I am not there for months sometimes.” The singer expressed gratitude for having found a partner who shares her values and supports her career, stating she feels “lucky” to have him by her side.
