On September 7, the day that marks the birth of Malayalam legend Mammootty, his first major appearance in a Tamil film is set to be revealed. The upcoming project, titled OM, is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and brings the two actors together for the first time in a full-length feature. The teaser, released on the actor’s birthday, features a poster that reads, “Big M arrives on 7th September,” and adds the cryptic line “Siya Entry awaits,” leaving fans eager to discover the role Mammootty will play.
While the character details remain under wraps, the timing of the reveal is clearly designed to excite his fan base. The poster’s bold typography and the promise of a “Siya Entry” suggest a pivotal moment in the film’s narrative, though no further explanation has been offered. The announcement coincides with the Malayalam star’s 68th birthday, making the launch a celebratory event for his followers.
“OM” is noteworthy not only for its star power but also for its ensemble cast, which includes Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah, and Indrans. The music is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, while Ezhil Arasu handles cinematography and R Kalaivanan is in charge of editing. Additional crew members feature production designer Rajeevan, art director A. Pannerselvam, action choreographer Yannick Ben, and dance choreographer Sandy Master.
Previously, Mammootty and Dhanush crossed paths in the Malayalam film Proprietors: Kammath and Kammath, where Dhanush made a cameo. Their collaboration in OM marks their first major joint effort in Tamil cinema. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, promising audiences a fresh blend of talent from both industries.
