Cinema VinesToday, September 6, the eighth season of Bigg Boss Malayalam is set to launch at 7 PM, with veteran actor Mohanlal returning as the host. The much‑anticipated grand opening will air on Asianet and JioHotstar, and it is expected to reveal the definitive lineup of contestants who will enter the house.
Prior to the premiere, several names from the entertainment industry have been floated in the media. Reporters have linked actors and personalities such as Gayathri Suresh, Kadal Komban, Mridula Vijay, Sreelakshmi Arakkal, Vicky Thug, Rini Ann George, Nobi Biju, Aishwarya Madhu, Sumesh Chandran, Kali, Sreelaya, Vivek Gopan, Neha Fathima, Gautham Sasi, Muhammed Aseef, Jaseela Parveen and Rahul Easwar to the upcoming season. In addition, a group of commoner contestants has emerged from the pre‑show selection process known as Agni Pareeksha. Names that have surfaced in this context include Lolita, Eldo, Rakesh and Shijin.
Agni Pareeksha began with 40 aspirants and, after a series of challenges and audience votes, produced 12 finalists: Shijin, Shamon, Eldo, Shyam, Tashi, Rakesh, Shijulal, Lolita, Shibin, Pooja, Sona and Afianas. Judges Ranjini Haridas, Riyas Salim and Akhil Marar evaluated the contestants during the selection process. However, the appearance of these finalists in the launch episode does not guarantee that all will enter the Bigg Boss house; the final decision will be confirmed when the grand launch airs.
The Malayalam edition’s launch coincides with a milestone for the Bigg Boss franchise, which is celebrating 20 years of reality television. On the same evening, new editions in six other Indian languages will debut, each hosted by a prominent figure: Salman Khan (Hindi), Sourav Ganguly (Bengali), Kichcha Sudeep (Kannada), Nagarjuna Akkineni (Telugu) and Vijay Sethupathi (Tamil).
Viewers who tune in at 7 PM will finally learn which of the rumored personalities have secured a spot in the house and which Agni Pareeksha finalists will compete. Until that moment, the list remains speculative, and the grand launch is the only event that will set the definitive roster for Bigg Boss Malayalam 8.
