Varun Dhawan raves about Hanuman Ansh; declares it a divine experience

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has taken to Instagram to gush over the small‑budget film Hanuman Ansh, which has already crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the box office. The 20‑minute feature, produced and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi under Swambhu Media Network, began its run with a modest ₹10 lakh on opening day but has since surged thanks to strong word‑of‑mouth, reaching a total of ₹122.13 crore in India.

In a video posted to his Instagram story, Dhawan said he watched the film with his mother in a theatre and found the experience “amazing.” He urged viewers to “go to the theatre and watch Hanuman Ansh,” adding that the movie felt “purely divine” and that he had a personal connection to Lord Hanuman from childhood. He praised the performances of Shobhinaw Satyaa and Chandan Anand, and the direction of Vishal Chaturvedi, calling the latter “brilliant” and giving him a “hat’s off.”

Dhawan’s endorsement follows similar praise from other Bollywood personalities. Actress Kangana Ranaut described the film as a “satsang” and encouraged audiences to skip therapy sessions in favour of a theatre visit. Filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Aditya Dhar have also voiced support for the movie.

Based on Chaturvedi’s book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life, which chronicles the life of Neem Karoli Baba, Hanuman Ansh follows the early years of a young boy named Lakshmi Narayan in pre‑Independence India. After his mother’s death, he leaves home in search of God and eventually transforms into the saint Neem Karoli Baba. The film’s third week saw a peak single‑day collection of ₹12.75 crore on day 24, and it has held its own against contemporaries such as Mirzapur: The Movie and Toxic.
